Absolutely fantastic. Played it by ear with the wild camping and followed your advice to the letter. Bit nerve wracking the first couple of nights, but I settled down. Pitched late, left early one morning I was off at am, but what a morning!

Struck gold in Scratby. I thought there was a camp site there, but it was only static caravans. Which is exactly what happened.

A cup of tea and digestives were brought out whilst pitching my tent and then I was offered a lovely curried Dahl and bread for dinner and the use of their wet room shower. The following morning they insisted I topped up my rice, oats and lentils from their larder.

I was blown away by their kindness and hospitality. The following day I was paying forward the kindness showed to me to everyone I had a personal encounter with. I highly recommend the Scratby Bakery for a morning bap.

The route itself was well planned and carefully considered. I particularly enjoyed West Kennet Long Barrow, I had never seen anything like it before, it was a truly unique experience going inside such an ancient burial chamber. I also really enjoyed meeting like-minded people who like to go for a walk and get outdoors as I do and I enjoyed the conversations I had.

We had lakes, mountains, trees, fluffy cows, and fresh air. A wonderful day for the soul. I suffer with social anxiety so I was already pushing myself out of my comfort zone by attending solo, but the warmth shown by Abbie on my arrival eradicated my nerves and made me feel instantly at ease.

I felt relaxed during the entirety of the walk and shared some wonderful and inspiring conversations with the group. The circuit around Buttermere is truly spectacular, and Abbie shared with us some interesting facts about the landscape we walked within.
